TEMPORIS Awards Gala 2013 – the second edition of a Romanian event with International reach
- The winners of the 11 categories of the TEMPORIS Awards 2013 have been announced. The initial selection was made by an International Jury for each of the category, then the most appreciated watches have been publicly voted on www.temporis.ro
- TEMPORIS Awards Gala 2013 continued to build on the “Genuine Brand” concept. Peugeot is the brand that have been awarded with this prestigious distinction at this year’s event.
- “TEMPORIS Hall of Fame”, the original concept launched at the first edition of the event, has received among its unique members three more world-class horlogers: Richard Mille (Richard Mille), Stephen Forsey (Greubel & Forsey) și Yves Corthesy (Zenith).
“A few years back, I have received the CAESAR Honoris award. I come back now in Romania and I receive, again, an award. I love to receive awards but I promise I will come back even if you don’t have a prize for me,” said with humor Richard Mille, considered one of the best innovators in the modern watchmaking industry and also for being a wit. “I am honored by the Temporis appreciation and I thank you for the invite to become a member of TEMPORIS Hall of Fame. Dan Vardie is a visionary, an expert not only in watches but in many other domains – from cars to coffee! – one of the few that can foresee the trends in the luxury industry”, added Mille.
“We are a small company, that will have next year it’s 10th Anniversary. But we are also very active and we invest a lot in research and development. This way, we can offer products that have ever more performance, quality and refinement. I would like to thank Dan for the initiative to establish TEMPORIS Gala, an unique event in Europe. All of the ingredients – watches, orlogers, creators, designers and genuine brands are the most valuable assets of our industry. Dan is the only person I know that succeeded to get all of these in the same place, in a world-unique event”, said Stephen Forsey, the man who offers the most expensive haute horlogerie watches in the world and also considered one of the best specialists in the tourbillon complication.
Ives Corthesy also stated that” “I am honored to be welcomed in the TEMPORIS Hall of Fame, a first of its kind, designed as a tribute to our work, those who create mechanisms, complications etc.” Corthesy is the man behind one of the most spectacular watches of the last years, Zenith Christophe Colomb Hurricane.
TEMPORIS “Hall of Fame” is the only one of its kind in the world, a gallery dedicated to genius, inspiration, vision and competency. It is a tribute to the great creators of the haute horlogerie industry. TEMPORIS Hall of Fame was launched last year, the first three great watchmakers welcomed being Kurt Klaus, the living legend of IWC, Mathias Buttet, the man behind the horloger revolution created by Hublot and Kari Voutilainen, one of the greatest independent watchmakers in the world. All the three have come to Bucharest to become members in the TEMPORIS Hall of Fame.
At the TEMPORIS Awards Gala 2013, Peugeot received the “Genuine Brand” distinction, which honors the prominent character and evolution of the brand without compromise, within a history of more than two centennaries.
“Peugeot has been established more than 200 years ago, at a time when, keep that in mind, the automobile and the wrist watch were not even invented yet,” said Dan Vardie, the founder of TEMPORIS, in his introductory speech for Peugeot brand. The original ideea was confirmed by Xavier Crespin, Peugeot Vicepresident and Spokesman for the French brand. “I have never even imagined how much we have in common with the watchmaking industry. That goes from attention to details as far as design. Brand name, following a vision and a mission have always been of extreme importance at Peugeot. I would like to thank Dan which – with his vision recognized by everybody in the automotive industry – has nominated us. It is a great honor to be recognized as a genuine brand in a world dominated by copies of all kind. We try to stay genuine for over 200 years now and we have the intention to keep it up like that. You can count on Peugeot!”
Last year, Jaguar, Hilton and Sobranie have received “TEMPORIS Genuine Brand”. It is an award that recognises the autenthicity, original brands that made history. Binding “TEMPORIS” with “GENUINE” has a great significance, giving authenticity beyond time.
The second edition of TEMPORIS Awards Gala, the annual event organized by the TEMPORIS magazine published by Automedia, was hosted by the exquisite ambiance of Le Diplomate, at Hilton Athenee Palace Bucharest. Actors Adina Stan and Vasile Calofir presented the 11 categories to the prestigious audience.
The members of the TEMPORIS international Jury – which has among its members Nick Faulkes, the most famous watch journalist in the world and Kari Voutilainen – nominated the watches divided in 11 categories (88 watches in total). Then, 984 watch colectors and aficionados voted on www.temporis.ro, to designate the winners of the 2013 edition.

Few haute horlogerie events that are organised outside Switzerland get to get a real international notoriety. The second edition of TEMPORIS Awards Gala was definitely one of these events.
“It’s a great pleasure for me to see that TEMPORIS magazine gives this level of attention to the Swiss haute horlogerie industry. I love Romania and, as a representative of Switzerland to Bucharest I thank you – Dan in the first place – for the efforts that you make for us,” said His Excelency Jean Hubert Lebet, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Bucharest.
